Innoculants for High Duty Grey Iron & S.G. Iron
|
|
Well selected inoculant will refine grains; will provide more nucleating sites promoting more Graphite and not Iron Carbide precipitation and this in turn will improve Mechanical and Metallurgical Properties and Machinability of castings.
Today a very wide range of Inoculants are available using Ferrosilicon as a base in which varying degrees of elements which promote nucleation are added - either by mechanical blending or by casting as Single alloy.
Gargi has following range of Inoculants
A. Blended Inoculants:
Garinoculant 'S', 'SB'; '10M' :Typically CaSi and /or Synthetic Graphite is Mechanically blended with foundry Grade FeSi ; these are low cost inoculants for low Pouring Temp. application and are effective in a limited way as the performance may not be consistent.
B. Single Alloy or Cast Inoculants: Ca,Al,Ba,Zr and Sr are most commonly used elements which are 'cast' into FeSi to create a family of very consistently effective Inoculants.
Gar Supanoc: Single alloy inoculant with guaranteed Ca
and Al%; this is far more consistent than Blended Inoculants.
Garinoculant SBC: FeSi doped with varying amounts Ba and
Manganese;very effective for all general purpose application; provides longest fading time;specially useful in pouring very large castings;moderate price and hence very popular.
Garinoculant ZR: FeSi doped with Zr as primary element
and for special applications Ba and Mn
are also added; very effective even with
low bath sulphur; good for grain refinement.
Garinoculant SR: FeSi doped with Sr; most potent inoculant;provides excellent chill reduction in thin sections; lowest dross formation amongst all inoculants; widely used in critical Grey Iron auto components.
